The Infamous Masterson’s , located in the heart of Moonee Ponds , markets itself as a trendy “hipster” hangout , but my recent visit at this establishment became a nightmarish ordeal . While the bar may seem appealing from the exterior , what I found behind its threshold was appalling and beyond comprehension .
The State of Affairs: Squalid and Neglected
From the moment I walked in , it was clear that hygiene was not a priority at this bar . The floorboards were filthy, and a overpowering stench of old alcohol and filthy restrooms polluted the entire bar . Reeking of a mixture of ammonia , a rotting odor and sour vomit . The main bar, which should be the main attraction of any pub, was littered with unwashed glassware and refuse that looked like it hadn’t been touched in ages . The lavatory was in even a more revolting state — spilling over , with a snapped lever and surfaces marked in what I can only assume was human excrement .

Many visitors have reported observing cockroaches darting across the bar area and signs of here rats in the storage spaces .
